Barkly Theatre

Barkly Theatre Company was founded in 2024 by Cosima Gilbert, Oscar Lidgerwood and Michaela Lattanzio.

With a focus on bringing established works to local melbourne stages and engaging a new generation of theatre goers. Barkly began in affiliation with Melbourne University where they produced ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’ (Dir. Oscar Lidgerwood, Michaela Lattanzio, Guild Theatre), and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ (Dir. Cosima Gilbert, Union Theatre). In 2025 they made their professional debut with ‘SHIT’ by Patricia Cornelius at the Motley Bauhaus (Dir. Sophia Murphey), followed with a season of ‘Oedipus Rex, a Retelling of’ at The MC Showroom (Dir. Oscar Lidgerwood).
